Acting/Directing Intensive July 17th ? August 18th
Pogram 5 hours a day 12 to 6pm.
Superior training in acting and directing with Russian Master teacher/ director Herman Sidakov using techniques of Stanislavsky, Vakhtangov, Meyerhold and Michael Chekhov. Intensive includes daily training in Fitzmaurice Voicework, Williamson Physical Technique and Viewpoints.
This program culminates in an Actor/Director showcase of ?The Three Sisters."
Weekly curriculum:
WEEK 1: Awareness and Imagination
ACTING
? Awareness as a creative state (shifting awareness from external object to internal and back; visual, aural, and multi-object awareness)
? Imagination as the main component of awareness (from concrete objects to imaginary objects)
? Fantasy as the necessary quality of creative thinking (transforming the imaginary objects into the concrete form on stage)
Voice and Movement:
? Fitzmaurice voice work, Williamson Physical Technique for Actors &Viewpoints Weeks 1,2&3.
DIRECTING
? Starting point of working with actors on scenes and characters
? Observations and etudes with actors
? Initial event and its significance in building a show and a role
? Script Analysis ?Three Sisters?
WEEK 2: Building a character
ACTING
? Connection Between Physical and Subconscious
? Use of Stanislavsky?s method of physical actions while working on the role
? Inner monologue
? Changes of tempo-rhythm as a foundation of continuous development of stage reality
DIRECTING
? Directing concepts
? Stanislavski method of physical actions
? Tempo-rhythm of character, scene
? Choosing scenes; directing concepts and casting
? Working with actors on weekly scene assignments
? Analysis of individual scenes based on different interpretations of ?Three Sisters?
WEEK 3: Building a Scene
ACTING
? Concept of Scene Phrase as a main unit of building a scene
? Structure of scenes (flows and periods)
? Scenic interaction between partners
? State of game in scenes
? Unlimited improvisation within director?s limits
DIRECTING
? Scenes from ?Three Sisters?
? Co-authorship with actors
? Elaboration and rehearsals of scenes using tempo
? Rhythmic phrases and scene phrases
? Search for the whole
? Beginning, Climax and End according to Meyerhold
? Atmosphere according to Michael Chekhov
WEEK 4 & 5: Actor Director Collaboration
ACTING/DIRECTING: Showcase
?Three Sisters? Actors and Directors work together with Master Teacher on preparing the final showcase of the program. The showcase will be performed twice and after each performance there will be a discussion and notes from the Master Teacher. Students will be given an individual attention and evaluations.

Over the last 12 years Tom Kee has worked with student actors to develop and appreciate their craft. As a graduate of the M.F.A. Professional Theater Training Program at Brandies University Tom comes to his knowledge of on-camera technique first hand, as an actor, voice over artist, and print model.

IMPROVISATIONAL CLASS

The Improvisational Theatre Class is happening this Saturday and it is only the
second class, so if you haven't signed up or arrived yet, no sweat, there is
still space and you should come! (Five more sessions left)
