4. Acting Classes
Students prepare scenes from the drama of the world?including Shakespeare?and take part in improvisations. And we discuss the technical meaning of these sentences by Eli Siegel, the founder of Aesthetic Realism, in a lesson he gave to actors:
?Acting shows that you don?t have to be fettered to yourself. You can be other people....Acting is a certain way of taking the contraries of the world. It is a way of being somebody else for the purpose of coming back home immediately. You take a trip in order to find out who you are.? Classes are bi-weekly on Mondays, 6-7:30 PM at 141 Greene Street in SoHo, New York City, taught by Anne Fielding, Director of the Aesthetic Realism Theatre Company. Ms. Fielding is an Obie Award winner, Chekov?s Ivanov. She has appeared Off-Broadway including in musical theatre; at the New York and American Shakespeare Festivals and on TV here and in Canada.
